About RJ Peralta

RJ Peralta was born in New York and raised in Glendale, CA. His first real dance experience with Barkada Modern during his freshman year in college, an experience which he upholds as the most influential factor in his dance career. From 2007 on, RJ has trained and taken classes regularly in order to continue growing, and has performed & showcased his choreography at events such as Vibe, Fusion, Ultimate Brawl, and many others. He says he admires every dancer within the dance community, seasoned or not, simply because he loves learning from anyone who is willing to teach.

About Karl Flores

Karl Flores, was born and raised in the city of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. He is currently 19 years of age and began his dance career during his high school freshman year at the local hip-hop dance team at his high school. His training began with an influence of buck/krump, but eventually developed into a love to popping and heavy musicality. When he began his first year in college he auditioned for the team now known as Barkada Modern and has grown immensely as a dancer, training under names like Jackie Schentu, Kristine “Wobz” Bueta, and Neil Peig. Through this time he has developed his own quick style, with influences from the swag of the choreographers before him. Karl now takes a position as one of the lead choreographers of Barkada Modern and will continue to grow and develop as a dancer.

About Edward Santos

Edward T. L. Santos started is dancing career at the age of 8 taking hip hop classes at MKR Dance Productions, formerly in Diamond Bar, CA. After his first year, and for the next 6 years, he expanded his horizons, also taking up ballet, jazz, modern, and tap. Upon entering junior high school, his parents enrolled both him and his sister in ballroom classes at Let’s Dance LA in Alhambra. After just a few months, he was accepted into the studio’s junior performance team “Salsational,” which he continued to do for several years, while also being the modern dance coordinator of Troy High School’s Filipino club. In college, while also being a full-time student, Edward auditioned for Cal Poly Pomona’s Barkada Modern, the team he fell in love with, and after two years is now the Executive Director.

About Chrysta “Texas” West

Chrysta is originally from Dallas, Texas. In 2004 she and her family moved to Southern California. Soon after discovering her southern accent, her nickname was developed, “Texas”. With moving to Socal, she knew that she had a better chance to pursue her dream of becoming a professional actress and dancer. In 2006 she joined a well-known junior team called Team Millennia Juniors. She began training with them for the rest of her high school years. In October 2008, she was invited to become a sheroe on the all female crew named Sheroes, directed and found by Alexis Avila and Kristine “Wobz” Bueta (ABDC’s TM7). Within that same month, Texas auditioned and became a member of CalPoly’s Barkada Modern, which is where she still continue to grow as a dancer, and most importantly a person.

BARKADA MODERN FALL AUDTIONS

bMod Fall Auditions Flyer

That’s right! FREE iPHONES!!! WOOT! ( I wish -___- )

But even better,

Barkada Modern is having FALL AUDTIONS!!!

That’s right!  It’s that time of the year again for AUDITIONS!!!  If you’ve got experience dancing and would like to try out putting that talent into a dance team, now’s your chance!  Share your dance skills by auditioning for a welcoming dance team who shares that same passion for dancing as you.

WHEN:

October 5, 6, 7 and 8, 2009 // 7:00pm – 11:00pm

WHERE:

Cal Poly Pomona Campus // Front of Music Building (Bldg 24)

Common Questions:

Do I have to be a student at CalPoly Pomona to join or audition for the team?

-No! Auditions and membership are open to EVERYONE! We do like to keep the team 18+ but if you’ll be turning 18 shortly after auditions, that should be fine.

Do I have to attend all days of the audition process?

-While it isn’t required, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. Missing a single day will severely set you back in the process. Let a bMod member know if you have to miss a day. It is also your own responsibility to catch up on what you missed if you had to be absent for any reason.

What if I’m not a dancer?

-Take the workshops anyway! Dance experience is preferred, but not required. If anything, invite all your friends who you think might want to audition!

If I make the team, when and what time will practices begin?

-Practices will start on the Tuesday following your audition at 7pm. Regular practices for will be Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 7pm. Also, if you make the team, there will be a MANDATORY MEETING on Saturday, the 10th in the evening.
